Everts, the balloon company, was established in 1924 by Wilhelm Everts as a balloon printing company and distributor of novelties.
In 1954 the Company started producing balls and by 1965, Everts began producing its own balloons in Datteln, Germany. Over the years further printing operations were formed in the UK and in 1987 a second manufacturing plant was established in Melaka, Malaysia.
The Company expanded rapidly since, and in 1997 Everts was acquired by C. Riethmüller GmBH, a family owned group of companies that was formed in 1855 before being eventually sold to Amscan Inc, New York in 2011. Amscan is the world’s largest Party Goods Group with its own 900 store retail chain, Party City, distribution in UK, Germany, Australia as well as offices / showrooms across the US and in Hong Kong.
Everts now forms part of the Manufacturing division of Amscan, producing natural latex balloons that complement the other in house manufactured party products, with operations in the United States, Mexico and Poland.
Today, Everts operates from a single, modern purpose built plant in Melaka, Malaysia, with automated balloon production equipment, and the latest silk screen printing technology that can print 5 colours or all round / global prints. Our lab continuously seeks improvement, with research and development activities on new formulations, shapes and colours ensuring we keep up today date with market needs and changes in the regulatory environment.
Our packing department can work with different materials and has the flexibility to pack for our own internal branded products or private label, typically for large global retail chains.
Our team has decades of combined experience and with the resources of our US parent company, Amscan, we have a strong foundation upon which to grow and continually improve our product range; at the same time, keeping up to date with the latest technology.
We produce over 1 billion balloons annually with capacity for more, and typically ensure our balloon production is focused towards producing fresh products whilst keeping a reasonably stocked warehouse of approximately 100 million pieces across our entire range.
We sell into the various markets for retail, promotional and decorator segments., with a range of over 45 shapes / sizes and vibrant colour pallet comprising over 60 colours. Our customers comprise of leading retail chains and distributors in over 50 countries around the world.
One of our key priorities is balloon safety and in this area we consider ourselves to be one of the industry pioneers having certified our products with TÜV Product Safety GmbH in 1998. Our balloons are prepared using a specially prepared latex formulation that ensures they meet the latest and stringent standards of the European Union.
We take pride and care over our environment and carry out practices to dispose of our waste that are safe to our surroundings as well as incorporate a high level of social responsibility in our daily work. To this end we have carried out various social audits, including the Business Social Compliance Initiative, created by the Foreign Trade Association of Europe, ETI code as well as SEDEX.

With years of experience behind us, we only use our own specially developed latex formulation, sourced from the most reputable plantations and suppliers in Malaysia, the global Centre of latex excellence.
We ensure all latex complies with EN71 Toy Safety Directive, Europe and our quality remains constant wherever our balloons are sold.
Together with our latex partners we ensure each and every batch is tested in our own labs as well as third party labs carefully selected in Germany.
We also have our own in house lab, the only in Malaysia, that has installed leading edge equipment that tests for Nitrosamines (NA’s). This gives us the capability to test over 100 samples per day, covering latex deliveries, chemicals, pigments and finished production. We are confident that no other balloon manufacturer globally, tests latex as extensively as we do.
Your safety is our utmost importance.
Quality is at the heart of everything we practice at Everts, with the aim of producing best in class balloons, together with outstanding service and delivery standards. We have an extensive quality team, working around the clock, 7 days a week testing and monitoring our production of more than a billion balloons a year.
In brief:
We use in house labs for physical properties testing of latex and balloons, encompassing tensile strength tests, stability, viscosity, pH, total solid content etc.
We test each delivery load of latex for physical properties, and for Nitrosamines and Nitrosatable substances, using the latest Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry equipment in our own lab, with capability of over 100 tests per day.
All pigments and chemicals used in production are tested similarly ensuring all items meet or exceed all known international safety requirements for balloons.
We use colour spectrophotometers, with specialized lighting equipment to ensure colour consistency between production batches.
Online quality examinations continue hourly, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Prior to shipment, further random checks and lab tests are carried out as necessary, or upon the request of our customers.
Our Total Quality Management incorporates the best aspects of the 5S system, with the aim of improving efficiency, quality and safety.
Our balloons are made of rubber, produced naturally from the sap-like extract, known as latex from hevea rubber trees. For this reason our products (without the addition of harmful preservatives), will biodegrade over a period of time and in doing so shall soften and become unusable as balloons. To preserve the life span of a balloon, we strongly recommend the following best practices:
Keep the balloons away from direct sunlight / UV light.
Maintain the balloons in stable temperatures of between 15 – 20 Degress Celcius.
Avoid balloon contact with substances such as solvents, oils, greases, softeners, vapours and acids.
Avoid high Ozone environment and storage in rooms with mercury lamps, electrical motors, and high voltage equipment.
Always use the balloons in the order you receive them, i.e. practice First in First out.
Maintain balloons away from moisture of humidity so as to avoid stickiness.
In general, the thicker the balloons are, the more long lasting and tough they are. The fresher the balloon, the better it will be.
For comparison purposes it is always best to compare balloons of the same age.
The more latex used, the more expensive the balloon will be, as it will be heavier and longer lasting. Sometimes cheaper, thinner balloons will display higher bursting rates, or will not remain well inflated for long.
Colour density can be an important factor, especially for decorators, In general, the more dense and opaque, the more expensive the balloon.
A consistent beading roll is important for ballon printers who usually find it easier to stick with on brand of balloons to avoid problems with set-up.
The size of a balloon is usually measure by it’s diameter after the balloon is inflated. The diameter is the horizontal distance between the mid-point of the balloon as you hold it with the neck down.
Never over inflate a balloon and ensure sufficient space inside the balloon to allow for air expansion as the air inside heats (15% would be ideal). So before you tie the balloon, release a little air.
Always use an appropriate pump to inflate and never use your mouth.
If you want your balloons to float, then helium is required.
We maintain stringent quality control and constantly monitor the physical properties of balloons produced. Our aim is to consistently provide customers with the best products, together with great service!
To make inflation easier stretch the inflated balloon lengthways by hand. Lightly cover the part of the balloon nearest to the neck with your hands so that the air is initially forced into the furthest part of the balloon. For heart balloon it is advisable to inflate the body of the balloon first, release the air and then fully inflate the balloon. The top point of the heart should not be overinflated in order to avoid the body of the balloon bursting and pieces of broken balloon flying in the eyes.
Warning text in bags:
